Entry Information
Discover a great value day out in Essex to the unique setting that is the Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker, and experience a slide of Cold War history for yourself. Our self guided tours are available for both adults and children, to allow multiple generations to enjoy the visit together.
Please note: This Halloween, the bunker will be closed to the public from Saturday 25th October to Wednesday 5th November 2025 inclusive. Normal opening hours resume on Thursday 6th November 2025.

We are open every day 10am to 4pm during the week and 10am to 5pm weekends & bank holidays.

We are open Thursday to Sunday inclusive, 10am to 4pm as well as being usually open during school holidays and half term.

Please note: Sometimes being underground there is no WiFi signal for card payment. As payment is at the end we strongly recommend you bring some cash to save embarrassment.
The tour is self guided by personal handsets. This is included in admission price. There is an adult and child tour available which both follow the same route.
There are several films to watch en-route and a dressing up area where you can try on authentic military uniforms and gas masks!
As a rough guide the tour takes about an hour to an hour and a half to complete. However, should you stop to watch all of the included films and take some time out to try on the uniforms then this extends the tour by four hours. Some people find one tour just isn’t enough to take it all in!

How to find us
Access is from the A128 Chipping Ongar to Brentwood road at Kelvedon Hatch. If you have GPS, use CM15 0LA and look out for the Brown Tourist signs.
Note: Sat Nav may drop short of the main entrance. Continue until you see brown signs on A128.
