If you are looking to swap the sofa for some serious adrenaline, look no further than Nuclear Essex. Located in the heart of the Brentwood countryside, this isn’t just an activity centre; it’s a sprawling hub of outdoor experiences designed to test your nerve, your aim, and your sense of adventure.
Whether you are planning a family day out, a stag or hen party, or just a weekend escape with friends, there is something for everyone. Take a look at some of the top activities on offer at Nuclear Essex.
High Ropes
As the largest high ropes course in Essex, this is the ultimate test of balance and bravery. With three levels reaching up to 20 metres high and over 70 aerial obstacles to conquer, you’ll find yourself navigating suspended bridges, swinging platforms, and rope crossings. Every session also finishes with an epic 40-metre giant zipwire descent.
Zip Trek
If you prefer flying through the trees to balancing on them, the Zip Trek experience is a must. This woodland circuit features 13 different zipwires that take you across 500 metres of forest and even over water. It’s fast, it’s exhilarating, and it provides a bird’s-eye view of the Nuclear site that you can’t get anywhere else.
Knife and Axe Throwing
Test your coordination at the four-lane outdoor range, where you can learn the techniques behind throwing axes and angel knives. Under the guidance of the site’s instructors, you will be taught how to safely handle and throw with enough accuracy to find the centre of the target. There is nothing quite as satisfying as the sound of a perfectly timed throw hitting the wood.
Double the Fun, Less of the Cost
Can’t decide which activity to try? You don’t have to. At Nuclear Adventures, the more you do, the more you save.
When you book two or more activities (High Ropes, Zip Trek, or Axe Throwing), you will automatically receive a 15% multi-activity discount. It’s the perfect excuse to combine a morning on the High Ropes with an afternoon at the range.
Beyond the Heights
While the multi-activity discount covers the high-octane thrills of the ropes and ranges, the wider site at Kelvedon Hatch offers even more to explore. If you are planning a full day out, you should factor in these two iconic areas:
The Secret Nuclear Bunker
Deep beneath the woodland lies the Secret Nuclear Bunker, a piece of chilling Cold War history. Originally built as a regional government headquarters, this underground labyrinth is now a fascinating museum. You can walk through the blast doors and explore the telecommunications centre, the dormitories, and the “war cabinet” room. It is a stark, atmospheric contrast to the high-energy activities above ground.
Nuclear Wild Forest
Set across 20 acres, Nuclear Wild Forest features an obstacle course with over 25 obstacles, including the famous Deathslide into the water and floating pontoons. Whether you choose a Pay and Play session, a themed event or structured training, the forest is well-equipped with hot indoor wash-down facilities and changing rooms for after your session.
Please Note: While the Secret Nuclear Bunker and Nuclear Wild Forest are essential parts of the site experience, they are managed separately and are not included in the 15% multi-activity discount.
